When you place an order at IKEA, the first step is to create a 'draft order'.  Find out what it is, why it's important, and what you can do with it to make your process smoother.

A draft order is a computer printout of your order, either for distribution (i.e. you get it later either by picking it up, or by having it delivered) or for cash and carry. The draft order allows you to see what you're going to be getting, and you can get it delineated by each cabinet so that it is easy to check over each and every cabinet for completeness. Once you've checked over the draft, the order is converted to an actual order which you can then pay for to jump start the process.

Here's a tip: From your draft order, create a spreadsheet with the item numbers, cabinet size and styles, etc. and sort it by item number. When you receive your order, you and a partner can check off each item as it comes in by running down the list and checking off the correct item by item number.
