I don't think the Ikea version is dual fuel. Gas stove, and electric oven. The dual fuel version from Fratelli Onofri has the electric clock....

The A50 here in the states is indeed dual fuel. The A51 is most likely going to be the same.

Thanks for the information. I just called Ikea Coquitlam and they told me that the range is a gas stove and gas oven. Is the one in the states a gas stove and electric oven?

Can anyone who purchased one in Canada confirm that it is all gas? It didn't sound like the customer service agent knew what she was talking about...

Ok. I just came back from the Ikea store in Coquitlam. I checked out the demo model and sure enough it looked like it has an electric element in the oven. I asked the Ikea CSA and the woman had to call to find out if it indeed was an electric oven.

Well sure enough it is a gas stove and electric oven. THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! So needless to say I bought the only one in stock.

I didn't buy the Praktful Range Hood, but opted for the Luftig HOO P50S. This range hood's power was rated at 480 cfm vs. the Praktful's 400 cfm. Also, our Ikea has the Luftig on for $599 reg. $1599! So I save a thousand dollars!!!

My only concern is keeping the glass on the hood fan clean!!!!!

I'll let you know how it performs once we get the gas hooked up!

Hoping to get some hands-on experience with this range, I called our local store (Round Rock) and was told they had one on the floor and was invited to come take a look. When I asked the kitchen-area rep, she told me not only did they NOT have it in the store, I was the second person that week who had been told it was. Lovely. I did confirm through their online source that it IS dual-fuel, but would still greatly like to get my hands on it before I bought one.

Anyone have any in-home experience with this thing yet?

My gas guy is coming next week and we should have it up and running by the end of the week.

Its still sitting in the box in my garage....

Well the gas guys have come and gone. They hooked up a new gas line directly after the meter before the pipe enters the house. The gas guy told me this would provide the most pressure to the stove. Sure enough, we tested it with all five burners full blast and there was no loss of BTUs.

The oven is tricky. The light seems to stay on whenever the oven is on.

Give us a week or two of cooking a baking and we'll let you know how it performs...so far so good!!

I bought one of these in Seattle. I can confirm that it is indeed dual fuel, requiring a 40A 4-wire plug, which I'm glad I had our electrician install on an intuition, because that's just what it requires. I hear from a friend in Canada that the Canadian version is exactly the same; the only difference being that in Canada they don't package it with an extractor hood and backsplash as in the US. I haven't actually used it yet, but I'll check back in again when I have done.

OK, here is the review.

Its based on about a month's usage. I'm comparing it to my friends who have Wolf, Viking, Fisher & Paykel and my old Dacor.

Firstly, the stove performance is fantastic. Even with five burners on full blast, I didn't notice any loss of heat. We like to use the middle burner as we cook a lot of pasta, soups, and woking. The small front right burner is great for small things like our espresso maker. So, the stove is awesome.

The oven is huge and indeed electric.

My first complaint are the oven racks. The oven is wide. You'd think that with such a wide oven they'd use stronger or heavier duty racks. I put a Dutch Oven in the middle of the upper rack and it was bending so much I was worried that it wasn't going to hold the weight. My friend's Wolf and Viking stoves have really heavy duty racks that don't bend. Needless to say, these oven racks held the weight, but it would be nice to have stronger racks.

My second complaint is that there is not oven timer. Yes, there is a timer to turn off the oven, but no electronic timer to turn it on. The Fratelli Onofri version does have an electronic timer.

Thirdly, this oven is not self cleaning. This means that cleaning and wipe up after every use is mandatory. We put a pizza directly on the rack with a drip pan under, needless to say, some cheese fell and began to burn. This just meant that I had to make the extra effort to really clean the mess up afterward.

The oven performance is great. I checked the oven temperature with an independent thermometer and it looked like the oven cycled within a degree or two of the desired temperature.

Clean up of the stove is also a breeze. Unlike the Viking, Wolf and Dacor, to clean the stove top, all you need to do is take off the cast iron pot holders and wipe down the stove top. This is the same as the Fisher Paykal.

However, my biggest complaint is the knobs. I have zapped myself more than once by leaning on the knobs while wiping down the stove. So, the starters arced when my had was right there cleaning, and I got a jolt.

So in summary, the performance, style, and price are pros. The cons would be the difficulty in cleaning the oven, the light weight oven racks, and the knobs.

So, would I buy it again??? YES. We enjoy cooking so much now.
