30" or 36" Pull Out Shelf/ Drawer Front

So many have asked, some have created solutions, here's my take on it. This could easily be done with simple pine painted or stained. We used cover panel since ours are behind glass doors.

What you need:
Rationell drawer fronts (to use the grey ends which fit into the drawer box)
1/2 inch wood to be ripped down (blue tape if you want to cut down cover panel)
Circular saw (table saw would be preferable for a straight cut)
Electric drill and 1/4" drill bit
Awl
straight blade or hand saw
screwdriver (electric is ok)

[BREAK=What we did]

Alright I'm just going to explain how we did it and you can modify for yourself as needed.
Here is the 1/2" thick cover panel with measurements on blue tape for cutting. It's important to note that the strip of wood will not appear as tall as a standard Rational drawer front.

Cut the strip, we did two. It's about 1 1/2", you could probably get away with 1 3/4" but you might have a bit of trouble at the actual joining to the end bracket

Line it up to the gray Rationnel end piece and saw or cut with a straight blade the two channels that correspond to the end piece

[BREAK=What we did - Part 2]

Use the awl to punch the screw hole. Drill a 1/4" hole to accommodate the screw hole part of the gray bracket (you only have to drill down about 3/8). You also might want to use a thinner drill bit to predrill the actual screw hole (**note** this picture is PURELY for illustration purposes. The hole was already drilled, i simply staged this for the picture... no Dulci was hurt in the creation of this modification)

It will look something like this

[BREAK=Finish it up!]

If you want (and if it's applicable) you can stain the cut part of the wood

Attach the ends tightly making sure the channels fit, cut more if you have to. The ends might be a bit wiggly, but when they attach to the drawer front they will become more solid.

again, there are other alternatives, this is just mine
