Numerar Butcher Block: 90 degree L & end-to-end joints?

Hey all,
I'm looking for suggestions on joining numerar buther block in an L corner, as well as how to join end-to-end (not sure if i will ahve to do that, hopefully not but I'm going to plan for it just in case)

How do I make sure food and crumbs and other junk doesn't get jammed down in the crevasse where they join? Can i seal the joint somehow? epoxy maybe?

thanks!

Great thanks for the info! I found a similar thread on here before but those are much more detailed.

My only worry is that I don't have the proper tools for cutting the bevelled ends off squarely enough to do a proper butt joint so i'll probably butt the ikea pre-cut ends with bevels... so that leaves a small divot in the bevel.

i wonder if i can fill that divot with some sort of epoxy just to keep crap out of the joint... or maybe that will look worse than the divot itself

hrrrrmm

those zip fasteners look cool though! I was just going to put screws in on an angle from below... those look much better (if I can find them)

I've been blogged!
Re: Numerar Butcher Block: 90 degree L & end-to-end joints?

I think some people use silicon in the end to end joint. So far we haven't gotten organized enough to use anything and yes, there is some stuff in there but it's not a disaster and it's not getting past the bevel. I've recently noticed that some of our boards came with bevel on both sides and some did not. If you were to arrange two boards w/o bevels in an L joint there would be no gap .

Cool, I will have to check that.. I haven't opened the boxes yet (well... I peeked at one of them due to my excitement when I bought them).

Thanks!
