Am I supposed to treat cover panels with vinegar?

After six weeks I am ready to take the film off the cover panels in my Adel White kitchen. I seem to remember reading a small instruction sheet in the packaging about spraying the cover panels down with a vinegar/water mixture. Of course, I can't find the instruction sheet now for the life of me so I won't let DH take the film off until one of you all-knowing gurus tells us what to do!

Does anyone know what I am talking about? Why would we have to spray with vinegar?

Nicole

Re: Am I supposed to treat cover panels with vinegar?

Hi Nicole!

I have never heard of that, myself. I took the film off with no problems, or at least my GC did. No vinegar involved.

I wonder, though, if the idea is to help the adhesive come off completely? In that case, perhaps you don't need to do it before peeling off the film, but you could do so afterwards.

There are certainly others here who know far more than I, so hopefully someone will chime in very soon! I'm glad to hear things are coming along for you so well. Removing protective film is an exciting step, isn't it?

Re: Am I supposed to treat cover panels with vinegar?

Maybe that's how they suggest cleaning them in general? Since it's a foil finish, maybe they think that other cleaners might scratch or dull the finish so they suggest vinegar? Other than that, I have no ideas

Re: Am I supposed to treat cover panels with vinegar?

nigel-bigel--

Here's what the sheet says in English for Abstrakt--perhaps it's the same for ADEL White:

1. Remove the protective film on the back and edge of the door or drawer front before mounting/assembly.

2. Assemble the drawer and fit the hinges.

3. Immediately after having removed the protective film the surface is especially sensitive to scratches. You can increase the surface's resistance to scratches by curing it.

4. Wash it with a soft cloth, using a mild soap solution (max. 1%). Note! Do not use any cleaners containing alcohol or abrasives.

5. Wipe clean and let the surface harden for about 24 hours.

for daily cleaning see point 4
