Faktum Akurum drawer removal

Hi,

I bought a Faktum (european equivalent of Akurum) drawer last weekend and clicked it into place in my cabinet. I want to remove it again from it's rollers. From the manual, this should be very simple: Lift and Pull. Problem is, no matter how hard I Lift, the drawer doesn't release from the rollers...

What's the trick?

Roel

I think I found the answer already. See http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/assem...p-drawers.html
Can someone confirm?

Yep, you got it! You really have to pull harder than you think you do. Just pull steady and suddenly it will be out. Good luck!

Re: Faktum Akurum drawer removal

WRONG ANSWER!
For the new Faktum / Rationell series, don't listen to all the posts who instruct you to apply brute force (pulling/yanking) to remove the drawer. This at least seems to apply to models sold in Western Europe since 2008/2009, but apparently Akurum differs, and maybe even Faktums sold in other countries. Be sure to examine yours carefully to see if they match the models in the linked tutorial below.

Look for little white "buttons", under the rail close to the front and push these in/up.

Here's a very good illustrated and detailed tutorial, including tips on how to get the drawer out safely if it's mounted close to the floor.

Re: Faktum Akurum drawer removal

Hi All

Just a word of warning to view the link supplied by gautelund above with care, as the runners it talks about are NOT those supplied with Faktum kitchens, certainly not in my bit of Europe anyway.

Re: Faktum Akurum drawer removal

Sorry, gautelund, but unless FAKTUM and AKURUM are markedly different, (and it looks to be so, as those drawers and runners look different from what we just bought, installed and uninstalled many times over in our new kitchen) you still need to pull the drawer to about a 3/4 position out, then lift and pull outward and upward at the same time. There is a catch on the underside of the runner that will slip from its glide and the drawer will come out. I will try to get pictures and video of what we have later today.

Re: Faktum Akurum drawer removal

Susan, to clarify, are you referring to FAKTUM or AKURUM as the ones you just bought?

I can just re-confirm: the pictures and descriptions match my FAKTUMs 100%. And to take the drawers out, no three quarters or lifting upward or outward is necessary. Just locate the white plastic "latch" under the rail (pic. 1 in the linked tutorial), push it with a screwdriver, and the drawer just comes loose from the rail, whether it's extended 1/3, 3/4 or 1/1.

Re: Faktum Akurum drawer removal

Ours are AKURUM with RATIONELL fittings. I would appreciate it if you would tone down the WRONG ANSWER posts you're making all over the site - the information was correct at the time of posting, and for 80% of our visitors who are from the US/Canada, it's still correct. As I mentioned, I'll try to get pictures and video later to show what ours look like.

If you'd like to promote your tutorial, you could simply post an informative thread suggesting that there may in fact be a new mechanism coming for FAKTUM (and maybe eventually to AKURUM) and post a link there. Much more friendly than attacking everyone who's ever posted about the issue in the past and I'm sure it would be appreciated by those with FAKTUM and/or the new RATIONELL drawers when they come looking for answers.

Re: Faktum Akurum drawer removal

Well, I am aware that my posts my seem sharp. But they are not "attacks" on any person in particular. If the "yank and use brute force" was correct at some point in time, it's really just as much reason to be shouting. When I googled for this issue, I got a lot of hits here for different threads with many replies claiming variations on the "yank and use brute force"-theme. However un-IKEA that may seem, I almost believed it because of the sheer number of such claims. In one or two threads corrections showed up late in the thread. (This is why many such forums allow for promoting a certain answer and/or highlighting a particular answer as "correct" by voting or moderation.) Hence IMHO shouting in all the threads is called for.

It may seem that AKURUM is not all identical to FAKTUM in all markets - interesting. And if there are series called FAKTUM still on the market, which differ from the linked tutorial (note: not made by me), that's unexpected and even more un-IKEA. The information in the linked tutorial has been met with acclaim, also when posted other places (including on this site).

I have edited all my post to be more specific in terms of what models the linked info may or may not apply to.

Re: Faktum Akurum drawer removal

Can I just say again that the instructions that you linked to above are NOT as supplied with Faktum kitchens, nor as Susan has said, Akurum either.

The grey plastic cover panels on IKEA drawers have IKEA written on them and I note that your instructions show covers that are blank, so I suspect that they may not even be IKEA products.

I am an IKEA installer, working directly for IKEA, and have been installing IKEA kitchen for a number of years and have never seen drawer runners those those in the pictures.

It may be an idea to remove your link as it is likely to confuse forum members and may even result in damage to drawers as IKEA ones are different to those shown.
