Question Mysinge-arm assembly-major problems

I have two Mysinge Seating units I was trying to assemble tonight. It's all been pretty straightforward EXCEPT the part where I have to fit the bulging overstuffed arm rest/piece (the armrest type part to the left or right side that hinges) into the projecting foot-piece. The foot piece only projects about 2" forward of the frame, but the arms are at least 6" thick so despite two people, and throwing all our weight against the armrest to push it in and down at the same time as the instructions show i am totally stuck how this is going to go together. I'm scared if I force it in any harder the plastic foot assemblies shall snap or the bolts will be so strained they will strip...anyone else had this problem and have a tip as to how I can assemble the armrests?? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Mysinge-arm assembly-major problems

First off, Tiimo - welcome to IKEAFANS.

I've assembled all of the Mysinge products at one time or another, and not run into this problem at all. This is a tough assembly process, but not the way you describe it, and I've never not been able to do one of these.

Are you sure you have the armrest oriented properly? It doesn't go "both ways" - it is meant to be installed just one way, so that maybe you're doing that part incorrectly?

Re: Mysinge-arm assembly-major problems

I agree with Chuck, I have two MYSINGE sofas and regularly take the arms and back off...it's never been difficult.
