Linking Dioder Strips

I just bought 2 packs of Dioder LED strips, and I wanted to put 6 in one are and 2 in another, my problem is can one transformer support more than 4 strips? Ive been looking around but I cant find any information if this will damage the lights or the transformer.

Anyone know?

Re: Linking Dioder Strips

I haven't tested that particular setup, but for what I see the leds are all in parallel. so I gather the device is a voltage generator with variable amperage.
You'd have to measure voltage and amps for one strip and read what the tech info on the device says and do a few calculations.

as an example, the latest LACK lights use a current generator (fixed amps, variable voltage) that is only rated for 2 lights (350mA/3.5V/light), haven't tried stringing 3 yet though.
When you use the lights that comes in packs of 2, the lights are actually connected in series.

I have the same question -- can you link the dioder lights? It would certainly make them much more useful. I also wonder how people deal with the long cord. If you are plugging into a wall outlet at about the backsplash level, there's a lot of extra cord to handle.

Re: Linking Dioder Strips

yes... LOTS of cord.

I bought "cord channel" from OSH - it's 2 plastic male/female sort-of "C" shaped in 5-ft lengths. Screw the "male" section underneath the cabinet (or use the sturdy double-stick foam 'tape' stuff), then carefully bundle the cord inside, and snap the "female" cover on top.

It's paintable, if you want. Virtually unnoticeable w/white cabinet bodies if you have the strip on the bottom front. You can unsnap the cover and add more cords, too. They're wide, but shallow, and hold a surprising amt. of cordage.

I found it helpful to carefully lay all the cords parallel, zig-zag them to shorten the length, then bundle them with blue tape in a few places to help control the chaos.

There are also pre-shaped "L" sections for going around corners.
