Just got my cabinets. How do the decor strips for crown molding attach to the tops of the wall cabinets? I have 39" cabs and 8' walls so will be close if not at the ceiling. If they attach from the top I assume they have to be attached before I mount the cabinet. If from inside the cab I guess I should wait til they are installed?

I should get my flooring tomorrow so am hoping to start cabs this weekend. I am sure I will have more questions once I get into it. This is a great site. One of the reasons I chose Ikea.

There's some brackets that come with the deco strip that are sort of "Z" shaped. The bottom part of the Z is short and the top part is the longest, if that makes any sense. Normally the shorter end goes in a slot cut into the back of the strip and the longer end is screwed into the underside of the cabinet. Now turn the bracket upside-down and it will work for the crown moulding. The short end goes over the top back edge of the deco strip and the long end gets screwed into the cabinet from the top. There's also a hole in the middle section that you would screw into the strip when using it this way. So you would need to do this before putting up the cabinets. I decided to do this only on my pantry and fridge cabinets after they were installed, so I had to drive screws from underneath.

I'll try to take some pics if any of this is not clear. Hope that helps!

Oh, one more thing - welcome to Ikeafans!
