Extra parts with the Akurum Cabinet? What's going on?
Hi! After months of planning and reading through this board, we finally got our cabinets from the West Chester, OH store. Everything went well (but I had no idea it would take so long to get the order input and pulled), and I've started assembling the cabinets. I've noticed that each of my cabinets have extra screws that come in the parts bag and aren't listed on the assembly instructions. There are two male, 3/4" long phillips head screws and two female, 1" long phillips head screws that aren't listed on the parts list. What are these for? These screws are in both the base cabs and wall cabinets. Also, the metal brackets in the parts bags (shown as part #103691 in the assembly instructions) look slightly different than those shown on the instructions (mine don't have a flare on them).
And... on step 5 in the
Akurum
directions, they show a man cross marking through the hole in the brackets and screwing in a screw into something. Question: what the heck is the guy making a mark on and screwing into? Is this a mark made on the wall behind the base cabinets and screwing into the wall?
I've read on here that you shouldn't put glue on the dowels? Why not? Is that just because in case I need to dissassemble the cabinets?
Any help anyone could provide would be much appreciated. I've tried calling the store, but I've only got their voice mail. I don't want to have to take all of these apart in case I'm missing something.
Akurum definition
Akurum is the North American equivalent of FAKTUM; that is the fitted, frameless, component kitchen cabinet line, which when paired with door and drawer fronts as well as interior accessories makes up the full kitchen cabinet system.

Hey there!
The male/female parts are for ganging the cabinets together. It should be listed on poster 3, step 12 & 13 for the wall cabinets (drill through cabinets, then gang together), and on poster 4 as well for the base cabinets.
The little metal plates must have changed sometime in the past year, because some of our cabinets had ones like the picture, and some were as you describe. Don't fret! They work the same!
I will go look at Step 5 to see what you mean by that and come back...!
Either way, the marking and drilling through the hole picture is securing the cabinet to the wall. In step 5, same thing, it's just for wall cabinets and it is secured to the rail which was attached to the wall. Is this what you were asking about?
As for the glue, I can attest that more than once I had to pull things apart when I got flakey or misread something, so I was glad I didn't glue them. But unltimately, you simply don't need it! The dowels are very snug, and the cam-lock screws hold everything snugger (<---that's a word, I decided!), and then once you nail/staple the back panel on, you are really supersnuggalicious! SO I wouldn't fuss with glue, personally.
Hope that helped! Everyone here is such a wealth of info, so if you run into any more snags or questions, ask away!

***slap on forehead***
yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I even went over the directions where it details about gaining them up, and didn't realize it. Not seeing the forest from trees I suppose. Thanks!
Hmmm... the directions you linked to are slightly different than mine. Mine show cross marking the holes and a guy screwing in mysteriously floating screws as Step 5, before the section on hanging the cabinets from the rail. The directions you linked to are much more helpful.
As for the glue, that's the thing- many of the dowels don't seem all that snug. I can easily push them in and remove them with my fingers, and I'm not sure how they will actually add to the overall structural integrity. I didn't know if the glue interfered with the wood's ability to expand or contract.

Where is poster 3, step 12 & 13? That did not come in my instructions.
