Planning to use wall cabinets for island base. Will the wall cabinets support a granite or a solid oak countertop?

In terms of just sheer strength...the answer is yes, the cabinets will definitely support a granite top.

However....the wall cabinets are only 12" deep and if they are the only cabinets on your island (which would be a very narrow island) and you have an overhang, that would be top heavy and in danger of tipping, so you would have to build a base for the cabinets to attach to that was attached to the floor.

Just using a regular countertop with no overhang would be fine without anchoring unless required by your local code.
