we are on demo day 3 and close to purchasing our range. In our original plans I just have a 30 inch gap in the cabinets to accommodate a standard range but now we might want the controls in front, so a slide-in. Has anyone installed this type of range and how did you deal with the gap at the back? We are using numerar beech counters and it seems as though I will have to make a cut out to house the cooktop or add an 1-2inch countertop strip at the back.

thoughts???

Brett

Yes, you will have to run the countertop behind the range, unless your range manufacturer offers an add-on filler strip.

thanks for the quick reply. I think we have decided to stick with the traditional controls in back range, it saves buying another countertop piece and avoids having a seam.

You can look for a freestanding range with front controls. Here's one from Sharp that has a built in microwave drawer. I can't find it on the Best Buy website, but I think it was about $1100 when I saw it there. Plus you don't have to buy a microwave!

we did look at the siemens only the electric version - and we bought it. Turns out that it is also at the end of last years model year so the unit was only $879 thats a great price to get convection cooking

Re: slide-in range and countertop

Hi,

Did you install oven cover panels on the sides of your slide in or drop in stove? How did you do it and how did it look? Can you send a picture?

THANKS

Terri
