I need help!

After spending ~1hr trying several combinations, I can't get started assembling this thing. None of the boards are specificly identified, there are only 2-D drawings of 2 or 3 boards going together at each step. There are so many to choose from, I can't get started.

Any suggestions? I've been on hold w/ the local Ikea for about 20 minutes now.
