Our Hemnes 6 drawer chest is fully assembled (drawers in and everything) except for one drawer. The drawer front was manufactured incorrectly and the groove where you are supposed to slip in the drawer bottom is on the wrong end... so when we screw in the drawer sides, they extend over the groove and we cannot put the drawer bottom in.

Has anyone experienced something like this before and if so, how have you handled it? Do I need to go back to the store to get a replacement part and will they understand the issue?

Hi there,

This kind of thing happens alot. Sometimes groves or holes are in the wrong place. Other times a piece is missing or broken. All you need to do is take your receipt (even if the return period has passed, which probably hasn't in your case) and the part with the problem to the store and tell them what is wrong. Sometimes it helps to take the instructions with you to show them. If they have the part in the customer service area, they will just give you the part. Otherwise they will open a package and give you a new drawer front.

Thank you for your response, you were exactly right. We went to the store and were able to get a replacement piece, no problem, after they confirmed that our existing piece was manufactured incorrectly.
