I installed the hinges for my upper cabinet doors without a problem, so I'd like to think I kind of know what I'm doing now, but I'm stuck. The next set of hinges came out of the bag in the closed position. i can't for the life of me figure out how to open them so I can fix the round part in the big round hole. I know the little plate part has to life up, but I can't get to that because the entire hinge is in closed position and won't budge. There's got to be some simple solution here but I'm not seeing it. I tried afixing the other part of the hinge hardware (the part that is fixed to the frame) to see if I could manipulate it somehow, but nothing moved. Help!

There is a slot for a flat screwdriver on the inner lip of the portion that flips down to lock the hinge to the door. It's facing the part that gets mounted to the cab.

It's on the flipped up part here, in the center, pointing down.

My problem is that I can't get the arm of the hinge to extend so that I can open up the plate and fit the round part into the door. I thought that I might be able to force it open by attaching the hardware that is mounted on the cab frame but nothing moved. I'm sorry this is hard to explain in words. It's like it's completely locked up. My hinges look a little different than those pictured. This is for the 37" corner unit if that makes a difference. It's a very substantial hinge unit.

Don't worry! I almost had to ask the same question when I managed to allowed all my 153-degree hinges to snap shut - just had to fiddle with them when I took them out of the bag, not realizing they were open for a reason! I would have answered you, but mine only opened by trial and error, so I didn't know what to tell you.
