So I'm trying to install the Domsjo Double basin sink and the instructions for the cutout have me confused.
In short: Where should the bulk of the counter top end? Should it be flush with the inside of the Akurum base cabinet (and then the notches made) or should the counter top over hang the base 1.5 inches from the outside of the cabinet? (and then the notches are made)
I want to limit the amount of lifting we have to do to see if the sink fits.
Thanks

Hi Chris! I can't directly answer your question, but I can point you to the FAQ on installing the Domsjo. You might pick up a bit of info there. Here's the link: http://www.ikeafans.com/FAQInstallationDomsjo.htm
Hope that helps!

Yeah, I'd read that but no direct mention on where the countertop should be, just that it needs a cut out... Also the graphic on the page is a little hard to see since it uses a color so close to the background color.

The side of the countertop should be flush with the inside face of the sink cabinet, the front should be 1.5" proud of the cabinet and then cut the notches.

Re: Domsjo sink installation - counter top question
Can I suggest that this info be added to the Domsjo installation article when it is moved over into the new article system? I had this same bit of confusion with the article, but this thread cleared it right up. Put them together and it will be magical. :-)

Re: Domsjo sink installation - counter top question
This was a really helpful thread, and so was the intallation FAQ/article. But I'm still confused....and on a timeline to cut notches in countertops tonight!
This thread says that the notch, when cut, will be flush with the front of the Akurum base. However, the official installation instructions for the single Domsjo say that the distance between the wall edge of the countertop and the back of the notch is 22 7/8". Shouldn't it be ~24" if the notch is flush with the front of the cabinet? The enlarged view of the installation instructions on page 13 make it look as if the base cabinet itself also gets noched to a certain depth. I'm using Numerar beech countertops and need to know if I cut the notch 24" from the back edge or 22 7/8" inches from the back.
Thanks!!!!
