Hi,
We have a 24" pantry that has a 64" h door. It had the fittings for the vacuum, etc which we took out and have replaced with internal 24" drawers. To allow the drawers to clear the door, we have purchased 153 degree hinges).
However...we popped out the existing hinges (130 degree) and tried to pop in the 153 degree hinges. However the fitting seems to be different. Anybody run into this problem before?
Thanks in advance?

I ran into the problem because I closed the hinge upbefore attempting to install it, and then in wouldn't go in. It took a screwdriver and a lot of trial and error before I could figure out how to open it up. There's a little tab somewhere that you have to press on. Maybe this could be the problem with yours?

I have just done the same thing - closed that sucker up and now AI can't get it open. Okay, I've got the screwdriver out. And I've found a tab that moves, but any further directions on how to get it to open again?

Oh Kate - sorry to hear that! You will probably just have to fiddle with it for awhile. I never really figured out what made mine open back up.

The contractor showed up and I sheepishly handed him the closed hinge. I believe he got it open by wrapping tape around the cup part (to protect it) then grabbing it with pliers to get a grip. Then he just pulled the whole thing apart.

I replaced regular hinges w/153. I noticed that the part that screws into the cab is different than the one for the regular hinges. So, I replaced both parts, the hinge and the part it screws in to the cab and mine work really well.
It was a bit of a pain to take the part out of the cab because the plastic sleeve thing-a-ma-bobs (sorry can't remember the name of those things) got pretty embedded in the cab hole. It took some effort to pull them out with a needle nose pliers.

future reference, using the needlenose first you twist, then pull... they come out much easier that way (and can sometimes be reused)

I'm not sure in what order I did the pulling and twisting, but I was able to reuse them. Thanks for the tip!

Removing the hinges: here we go again...
There are supposed to be instructions somewhere in this site on how to easily remove the hinges without damaging the plastic pieces using just a flat head screwdriver, even though I can't seem to find them right now.
And of course let's not forget the place where nobody cares to look for that information: the instructions printed on the back of the plastic bag where the hinges came...

Using a small flat head screwdriver it is often possible to 'unscrew' the plastic anchors - sometimes a pair of pliers will help to turn the anchors and pull them out at the same time
