Hey, just wanted to say that Ikea has solved the Avsikt Sliding Door fiasco admirably. I had posted before both here and on THS about my frustrations with "version 1" of these doors.

Well, I returned those doors and picked up the new, improved "Version 2.0" the other week. I'm slow at posting, and for some reason am without camera at the moment, but I intend to post a complete play-by-play... with pictures!

What it boils down to is that they have modified the assembly order of the doors and frame so that they are MUCH EASIER to install. I did it by myself in no time at all. The earlier version of the doors, as oddjones can attest to, were a royal pain to hang. The new doors have several new parts and, I believe, a tiny but imortant modification to the roller mechanism that makes all the difference.

More to come, but please don't hesitate to buy these doors. They look fantastic and go great with a modern themed kitchen.

Do you have th enumber of your IKEA? Do you know if they still have these??

IKEA Direct has "discontinued" these and I need (yes, nEED) them for our kitchen.

Please let me know if you can tell me where your IKEA is or if they have them.

I believe the local number for my Ikea is (972)712-4532, but you may have better luck calling the national call center and letting them try to locate these doors.

I did not know they were becoming unavailable again! That sucks. I really like them in their current incarnation. I only have two sets, but they are great.

I will call my local store and see if they have any more in stock.

I am going to try to make a set on my own. Would you do me a favor and give me (if you can recall) a rough breakdown of the parts you received to build the doors and cab?

That is, was the cabinet frame the basic frame and they sent you parts to add on or was the frame special? Did the doors already come with the frame for sliding or...?
