Has anyone had any installation problems with this faucet under the sink as far as fittings? These faucets aren't made to US plumbing codes are they? Or am I off on that.
I am having a similar problem with my ALSVIK faucet. It seems to use a 5/8" threaded pipe fitting which isn't normal for most US manufactured faucets. I have looked in my large home improvement stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) and no one has it. I am trying to improvise something and have contacted a few specialty plumbing warehouses (where the plumbers get their parts from) and I'm hoping this doesn't turn into any more of a wild goose chase. I'll let you know if I find anything.
I'm a big fan of IKEA and have pretty much furnished my condo with their products. I was very excited when I started putting my kitchen together and for the most part haven't had any real problems. They should definitely include some verbiage in their catalog about what size fittings their product has, I might have not ordered it had I known it was going to be this much trouble.
The Hjuvik doesn't need any special adapters ... it works as-is with US plumbing. I warned the guys installing mine that they might need some adapters - they told me that it was standard size....

In case anyone finds themselves in the same scenario as I did:
I was able to find a connector which fit my ALSVIK faucet at a specialty plumbing supply store. They told me it was made to connect European faucets to US plumbing.
As an aside, a call to my local IKEA store's kitchen team member uncovered some information. He told me all faucets are built overseas, but those sold in the US come standard with US connections. Mine clearly was not set up that way. He said sometimes a European faucet accidentally makes its way onto a US-bound pallet and they will exchange any that have non-US connections.
Unfortunatley for me, I had already installed it and felt it was worth $12.00 in plumbing supplies rather than uninstalling, driving back to IKEA and re-installing the faucet.
Thank you so much for posting your experience - I thought your story had been posted before, but I was rushed the other day and didn't do a proper search to find it. I've now stickied your explanation to the top of the Assembly and Installation forum so that others may benefit from your experience and findings.

Those faucett fittings had me going for a few minutes because here in the states most faucets are supplied to fit a fine thread compression fitting.
What you see as 5/8 coarse thread is the same thread as a 1/2" male adapter on a copper supply line.
If you can find the fitting made of brass it will have a larger sealing surface than the cheaper copper one for the gasket that is inside of IKEA flex hose. In addition you can dress that surface smooth.
In short it is a standard thread but it isn't the one we expect to see in that application.
One caution- do not over-tighten.
I had the same problem with a BÅGVIK faucet that I installed in my bathroom above/behind a vessel sink. After searching high and low locally, I discovered it had an "S.J." connector, which isn't common around Chicago.
I ordered two new angle shutoff valves (stops) for about $4 each from http://www.plumbingsummply.com. They did charge a lot for shipping/handling, but the total for both pieces shipped via UPS was less that $20 total.
I have two identical Ikea Bagvik taps 800.544.28 of the type shown in a pdf file posted on an earlier post. I have instructions to adjust flow and hot/cold for one of the taps but I now find the inside of one is slightly different from the other. The 2 taps were not purchased at the same time so it looks as if the adjustment has been modified on the later one to make it easier to adjust. I need instructions for the earlier one. The later one has a ring marked with arrows showing which way to refit to get the desired results. The earlier one is more recessed and no markings.
I have the Enskar faucet. After reading the countless ways to install....Some good some bad. I went to a plumbing supply store and bought 3/8 compression with a 1/2 male on the other side. I read I needed that on here somewhere.
I called Ikea....Not much help! They gave me the wrong part number. So back to Home Depot I went. They also never heard of having u.s. connections on their faucets.
The bottom line is to take your faucet or the type of connection you have to a plumbing supply store. It will save you much time and grief.
