I have a small sectiongas pipe exposed and it extends from the kitchen going thru the wall, into the laundry room next room. It is 2 feet long, 6'' tall from the floor, and 2 1/2" away from the wall.If Iinstall thebase cabinets there and use 6" tall legs for all my base cabinets, will Ineed to trim the base ofone or twocabinets a little in order to pushagainst the walland stand rightabove the gas pipe? How thick is the base board of base caninets?

The 6 inch legs will make your countertop a bit too high, around 37-38 inches instead of the standard 36. I wouldn't recommend it, but some people (very tall people, usually) prefer their countertops a bit higher than standard.

If I were you, I would first consult with a plumber as to the possibility of re-routing the pipe, but if that doesn't work you would probably have to reconfigure the cabinet to raise the floor of it by a couple of inches. It would mean drilling a couple of holes for the cam-lock system, but it isn't too difficult a modification.

Eva, thanks for the suggestion.

What length legs would you recommend for base cabinets in general, since base cabinet hightis normally 30".

If the countertop is 2" thick, that would mean I should get a 3" tall legs for the base cabinets, correct?

The 4 inch legs would give you a standard countertop height. The plastic legs that come with the AKURUM cabinets are 4 inches and are adjustable about an inch or so.

30 inch cabinet plus 4 inch leg plus 2 inch countertop equals 36 to top of counter.

I'm not sure I can "see" the situation, but I would consider routing a path for the pipe through the back of the cabinets, like I have done for vent stacks or electrical conduit.

I am considering raising the feet the full height just to get them a little taller - I like taller cabinets.
