Pull out Rationell carousel problem. Please advise. Thanks!
Thanks for all the great info. This site has been super helpful for my DIY (mostly) kitchen. I have a blind 49'' Akurum corner cabinet. The bottom pull-out rationell carousel hits the hinge as I am pulling it out. It isn't the actual shelf that hits but the metal piece below the shelf. The obvious thing to do would be move it up about an inch, but there aren't holes drilled for this. I can drill one... but that would mean this was a design issue?
Or.... it is very possible that I did something wrong on the install. There are also little black wheels on the shelves that don't seem to be doing anything. Any advice before I start drilling into the metal "column"? Thanks for your time.

Hi
The bracket under the shelf locks into place with a little shove, so it could be that you are not putting it properly into place meaning that the shelf is effectively too long, so it will snag on the hinge.
Try pushing it in over the resistance.
If it is not that then you have probably fitted the bracket in the wrong place. The shelves are designed to work with the hinges, so if it snags, it will be an assembly or operation issue.
As to the little black wheels, they run along the inside of the door to stop the pull-out damaging it.

Hi JHunt,
Did you ever get this figured out? I'm running into the exact same issue.
Thanks

After calling 3 or 4 different ikea stores just to see if the kitchen person that answered the phone could help me out, and going to the Ikea store here in Atlanta, I decided I needed to drill the new holes to raise the piece that holds the shelf up an inch or two. The people I talked to on the phone said they didn't know of the problem I referred to, and in the IKEA store, the blind corner cabinet with pull-out was conveniently on display without a door. I pointed it out to the employee and they agreed it would be a problem, but surprisingly hadn't heard of the problem before.
I also commented on how the outside edge of the shelf has VERY minimal clearance from the inside of the cabinet. This is also how the one at the store was set up, so I guess that is normal.
Mine works fine now, but to answer your original question... I had to drill new holes to mount the pull out shelf just high enough to clear the hinge. I could have missed something, but I think it was a design issue. Good Luck!

Thanks! I did the same this afternoon. Works fine now, just so weird that it is set up like that.

Have you eliminated the issues in my post above?
If so, and you still have the problem, I would suggest taking it apart and starting again and it is almost certainly going to be a mistake in the assembly that is causing the problem.

That totally took care of the issue being an inch higher. Everything works perfectly now.

Re: Pull out Rationell carousel problem. Please advise. Thanks!
If I understand JHunt's description of the problem, it sounds like his door is mounted (hinged) on the side of the cabinet instead of the vertical metal support. The easy way to fix this is to mount the door on the vertical metal support. Of course, if there is some reason that you need to have the door hinged on the cabinet side, then his solution would also work.

Re: Pull out Rationell carousel problem. Please advise. Thanks!
I am having this problem as well. I tried attaching the doors to the metal side but that wouldn't work as the holes in the metal don't have any give and only support a part of the screw as opposed to screwing into wood. I guess I am going to have to do as the other posters and screw in metal holes higher up so that the hinges don't get in the way.
Unless anyone else has other ideas?

To fit the hinges on the metal upright you need to remove the screws and use the ones supplied with the cabinet, then it will fit and your problem will be solved.
