Hallo all.

Been reading this place for a little while in preparation for our Kitchen project which we hope to make a start on this spring/summer here in San Francisco, the emeryville store is our little refuge.

Now my wife and I are not the best diy'ers so are going to have someone install the kitchen. And before we even ask Ikea about it I wanted to see if anyone had used them or had any thoughts on if the service is worth it, they say they do plumbing eletrical et al. And it would seem like using a GC except they do all the work. Do they pull permits?

We're in the planning stages at the moment, and are currently playing with the kitchen planner which is great but a little flawed.

Is a link to the existing kitchen, the wall is going to come out, and we are going with either a peninsula coming from where the door area is, or a u shape with the refrigerator at the door area.

for the curious the bathroom is done..

I loved the info from ths kitchen forum, and now am loving the info here, brilliant work to those involved, and I look forward to a long and torturous summer towards the completion of the kitchen.

Adel Medium Brown are the cabinets we hope to be using!

Thanks.

Robert

Welcome BFB! Do you frequent DVDTalk as well? I thought I recognized the username.

Try downloading planner version 2006.2 from the IKEA Canada website, it's got a lot more features than the version currently available in the US. You can upload shots from the planner so we'd be happy to help you tweak the design.

Unfortunately I can't speak to the installers at IKEA except to say that they generally contract out to local talent. I don't know if they have a certification standard. Perhaps someone on here is from your neck of the woods and would know more, or would have a recommendation for someone you can use.

Welcome again!
