Ikea Pax sliding doors not square with the wall

Hi guys,

New here and after a long day of building my PAX sliding door wardrobes, I'm gutted at what I just discovered. I have 2x1m wardrobes and 2x50cm with the 3 sliding doors. All in all 3 m of the wardrobes. Built the frames and as soon as they were placed against the wall, I could tell that my floor was clearly not at right angles to the wall as the base of the side of the wardrobe was against the wall, but the top was a fair distance off. Guess that's what you get in old houses. Ended up fixing the side panel to the wall and packing and joinign all the frames until the were flush with eachother.

When I put my first sliding door on and slid it over to the wall, the base of the door touches the wall and the top is a good 1-2 inches off. gutted, buty clearly down to the top of the wardrobes not being perpindicular to the side.

The only solution I can think of would be to adjust the sliders, so the one side was higher than the other. Is anyone aware of kits or solutions to this problem. Guessing it would be a series of spcers etc. To avoid having to lift it too high on the one side, it would ideally be nice to drop it on the other?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Ikea Pax sliding doors not square with the wall

Hi

It would be useful if you could post some pictures to show the problem so that we can understand better what the problem is as the doors should never be that far out if assembled and installed correctly.

I know this is going to sound a bit basic but the fundamental thing is to make sure that the wardrobes are fully upright and level in each direction.

If you put a spirit level on the sides at each end and vertically on the fronts are they level? If not then you need to level them properly to ensure that the door gear runs correctly.

If they are level then you need to check the assembly of the door gear as, if the cupboards are level, the doors should run properly without adjustment. Also, ensure that the door is in the correct track.

The above assumes that the wall is plumb?!

Let us know how you get on.
