Lookin for some tips installing 50 ft of wall cabs
I'm installing 50 ft of wall cabinets (Ramsjo) on a wall that has a few bumps and dips, its not perfectly flat. It's plumb, but I don't believe that the suspension rail will lay flat and tight against the wall when it is attached. The wall is 4 ft high under a sloped ceiling, in a finished attic area. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions in attaching the suspension rail to the wall that will make the finished project display flush cabinet fronts without gaps and also no gaps between the cabinet backs and the wall? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

50 feet?!? Wow. That's a lot of cabinets. What's the project?

Re: Lookin for some tips installing 50 ft of wall cabs
Welcome to IKEAFANS, Lucky.
First off, regardless of what you do to your rail and wall, there will be a 1/2" gap between the wall and back of the cabinet - that's "built into" the Akurum rail system.
As for the imperfections in your wall, if they're small enough, you can use shims the fill in gaps between the wall and rail. These will help flatten out the rail and keep the faces of the cabinets more even. If the wall is so uneven that shims don't help, you might want to consider doing some preliminary renovation work before you install the cabinets.

Re: Lookin for some tips installing 50 ft of wall cabs
Thank you for your help. This project is using upper kitchen cabinets with glass doors for book storage in a finished attic area. After closer examination this evening I have a section of wall about 2 feet wide that bows out. I called my local Ikea store today and they said to make certain the "rail" was flat against the wall, to cut into the drywall if necessary. As I asked earlier, if anyone has advice or tips let me know. Thanks sooo much, it's appreciated.

Re: Lookin for some tips installing 50 ft of wall cabs
Exactly what you do depends on how "deep" the bow is, and how it lines up with your cabinets.
If it's not deep big of a bow, you could do as the store told you and cut out the drywall. Or, if the bow is in the middle of a cabinet, you could install your rail so it runs right up to, but not over, the bow. In either of these cases, you'd probably have to chip away some of the lip of the cabinet, so it doesn't stick out too far.
If it's a large bow, you'll need to consider other possibilities, including remedial work to the wall to remove the bow.
