Rationell deep drawer question
Hello Experts,
I bought Rationell deep drawer (18") with front and it works flawlessly. Only thing I coudn't do it is attach the 2 Rods for support (from back to front). It seems to never fit, I tried all the options, read the manual but still coudn't figure it out. Most probably I am missing something simple. Could you please help me with that?
Thanks

Re: Rationell deep drawer question
iirc if it is an internal drawer you have to remove the bending end of the rod (unscrew it) and replace it with the piece that came with the drawer front and then it should work.

Re: Rationell deep drawer question
Welcome to IKEAFANS, kapil.
RV is on the right track, and I'm assuming, as they did, that we're talking about an internal drawer front here.
There are 3 doohickeys involved in this procedure. One is at the back end of the metal rod and is made of grey plastic - you're not going to touch that one, other than to snap it onto the back of the drawer. The other end of the rod has the 2nd doohickey - it's a right angle piece made of pot-metal inside a white nylon sleeve. You're going to remove this one from the rod by unscrewing it clock-wise (yes, clock-wise), and substitute the 3rd doohickey - a white nylon cone-shaped piece that comes in the hardware package with the drawer front - in its place (by screwing it in counter-clockwise). The front end of that 3rd doohickey snaps onto a small grey plastic hook on the back of the drawer front itself - it's just above either end of the rod on the back of drawer front.
Did you follow all that?
(So what you all missed was a discussion between Kayla and me about, among other things, which version of the drawer front is in circulation these days, what to call the various bits involved here, and how the whole contraption goes together. Talk about hot and sexy! But what would you expect from two IKEA geeks sitting side-by-side on the sofa?)

Re: Rationell deep drawer question
Thanks RV and Chuck.
I tried to attach Grey Plastic on the back but it fits on the other side of the drawer. I have attached few pictures for reference.
On the front of the drawer, the white nylon cone-shaped piece doesn't fit. Picture attached of the front as well.
Looks like I have fit the back of the drawer wrong(is it even possible)?because the grey plastic fits on the back of the drawer's back side, instead it should have fit on the inside of the back of the drawer.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Rationell deep drawer question
You have the grey piece on backwards in picture #2. Like I said, it's not supposed to be removed from the rod - instead, it snaps (with a bit of effort) onto the cut corner (#1) of the drawer with the rod attached to it, facing the front.
The "slot" that runs partially around the fitting lines up with the flat part of the drawer back; there are two semi-flexible wing-like bits on the fitting which snap over the bent edges of the drawer back - but this will take some effort on your part and seems counter-intuitive.
As for the white cone, it will fit too, but again, with some effort. You have to be more careful with this part, as the plastic tab on the drawer front (#3) isn't too flexible and can be snapped off if you're too "rough" (not speaking from experience, of course ).

Nah, just giving my inner geek a little exercise.
Glad to help, Kapil - good on you for sticking to it. And thanks for the pictures - they make it easy to diagnose a problem. We LOVE pictures.
