Re: Ikea launches video assembly instructions
The video is a great idea. But it's incredibly unrealistic on so many levels. The first thing that popped into my head was the missing tagline "trained professional operating on a closed course". Then, among other things, neither the dowels nor the little "foot pads" on the bottom edge of the head- and footboards slip in that easily; none of the screws - as N-O-N-E - glide in as easily as shown; and, oh yeah, once you put the little footpads on, the headboard won't stand up on its own that way.
It would also be more helpful if they were honest as to what tools you really need to do the job (seriously - no hammer or mallet? I won't even get into the discussion of some sort of cordless drill/driver), or gave some indication as to how much time this might take.
Finally, I'd love them to produce a video showing the first aid that would be required for your hands once you did all that work with a hand screw driver and their little 13mm wrench.
