I have a 21" base cabinet just got put together last night. No door yet. This is to be placed right next to the Frigidaire gas range. The top drawer will be used to place the spice bottles or frying utensilsor what not.

Without thinking clearly what should be used for the lower portion, I had my Ikean rep orderedthe wood shelf dividers.

If I want to make thisa pull out pantry much like the one Eva has from her photo, so my wife can store all the other tall cooking oil, cooking wine bottles, and whatever she needs for cooking, what type of parts do I need to get?

Maybe I will just return the wood shelvesand verbally describe what I need to my Ikean on my next trip. But, some suggestions from Ikea fans would be great.

Thanks

Unfortunately, there's not that many options for the 21" cabinet. 1 drawer on the top, door on the bottom, with the option of wire baskets on the inside. You could, of course, fit it with after-market options. You'd need something that would fit within a 19.5" interior cabinet space. Staying within IKEA's options, you could put in a shelf up high for casserole dishes, and then some wire dividers on the bottom for upright storage of baking sheets, cutting boards, and the like.

What did you have in mind to store in there?

Susan

Susan,

You are right. I am looking at the Kitchen Handbook now.Looks like the only option I can use is: BD21WB which has 2 wire baskets.

Do you know if these wire baskets are attached to side rails so they can be pulled out? If that is the case, that would be great.

Since baskets might not be your wife's cup of tea, you could consider this non-Ikeawood drawerfrom Rockler:

Rather spendy, but they look awfully nice.

Kathy,

Thanks for the suggestion for theRockler site. I looked at IKEA's wire basket today and they look sturdy so I exchanged my wooded dividers with the wire ones. With 3 screws on each side for the rail, I am sure they will withstand enough daily abuse from my wife for a while.

I will look into Rockler for other applications later.

The baskets can hold a LOT of weight. I had about a dozen heavy glass casserole dishes and pans on the top shelf and it slid in and out effortlessly.
