Install Drawer Slides When?

OK, so the video says it's easier to do before you put the boxes together. I've heard people say if you install them before the boxes get mounted in place, you get sawdust and dust and bad things in them.

So what did YOU do when? Pros and cons? I'm all for easy, but it doesn't sound easy to try and clean them out after they're installed to remove dust.

i'm a fan of after all construction, including counter install, is finished. i know this is not practical if you're living in the house during reno, but it's truly the "best" as far as keeping the glides clean.

After-install works okay for all but the 12" wide cabinets, unless you have a really short drill! We did before-install, and I did not see any problem with dust.

Granite dust will ruin the drawer glides! If you are having any granite installed, definitely wait until after that is done because they'll probably make a big dusty mess at some point.

Thanks!

OK, we'll probably wait til after then. I want to buy myself a cute little girlie electric screwdriver. Now I have a reason.

I suppose we just have to plan ahead so that we don't need to put the glides where we screw the cabinets against each other. And we figure that out by reading the directions that come with the drawers or the cabinets?

drawers.... taking into consideration any modifications...

i find it really useful to "tag" the holes i'll need for hinge plates or drawer glides (or even shelves) with blue tape... that way i won't accidentally gang them together on that hole, plus it makes it so easy to just stick a glide where it says G, hinge H and shelf S... the hinge tag i put between the necessary holes since they use 2
