Please Help: Stolmen small pole dropped completely inside large

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new ikea furniture user but so far the experience hasn't been too good. One problem has to do with the Stolmen pole. Basically what happened was after I removed the pole from the packaging and put on the top, as soon as it was slanted a bit vertically, the smaller end dropped completely inside the large one and the top flew off. I've tried everything I can think of (including the throwing a beheaded mop stick/steel stick inside) to get this smaller pole out but nothing has worked. I have to think that I must not be the first one to have experienced this? I was able to mount the first pole OK and there's no warning on the instructions how this could happen, so I am completely stuck now, just like the pole. Please help!

Re: Please Help: Stolmen small pole dropped completely inside large

This happened to me and it took me forever to figure out how to get the smaller pole out again. I put the smaller pole inside the larger pole on purpose though, when I was moving.

The poles lock in place when you turn the smaller pole clockwise, so it probably fell into the larger pole and won't come out because it's in a "locked" position.

All you have to do is stick something inside the small pole (which is inside the bigger pole) and twist it counter clockwise. It should slide out once you've turned it enough to loosen the locking mechanism.

I might have mixed up the clockwise vs. counter-clockwise directions -- really you just have to "unscrew" the smaller pole to get it out.

Good luck!
