During our annual pilgrimage thru the kitchen area at the Shamburg, IL IKEA, we found packages containing some wonderful, small drawer dampers.
Each package consists of 6 - gray, plastic, two-piece 'plunger' and holder components, about 2" long. They get attached to the cabinet box either under a shelf or drawer.
They work great and now I need about 6-7 more packs but can't find them in the on-line catalog.
I would also like to order thru the web. (Yes, of course I thru the plastic bags away already!)
Is anyone aware of these? How about providing the product number for ordering?
I could provide a photo if that would help identify them.
Thanks for the help,
Ron & Cyndi (new die-hard IKEAFANS members)
I just went to Ikea and typed Rationell Door Bumper into the search box, and it gave me the product I think you're looking for. You can purchase them online, it appears.
Hey Ron & Cyndi - I'm just curious about using them on your drawers (I have them only on doors). So you did this and it actually worked well? Ikea now sells these gizmos that you add on to the rails for a soft-close effect, but the bumpers might be easier for people with the older style drawer boxes. It would be great to get a review specifically for drawer usage.
Kathy, they work great here also. Not really much to 'review', but here is a photo of how I installed them. (hope this works - if not I'll post in my image gallery)
Hello
There are actually drawer dampers that attach on the back of the drawer slides they are part #601-086-77.
Just for extra fun... my husband actually drilled holes into the frame of the cabinets and inset the door dampers. This means that you do not have to have them really seen in the top of the cabinet. We just tried a few scraps with various drill bits, found a perfect fit and then slipped each of the dampers into the holes. You have to be steady and level with the drill but they are just great. Watch where you install them, the larger the doors need the dampers closer to the hinges. In the instructions it says 10 cm from the opening but we found they needed to be closer at times to close all the way.
