i am hoping to install an ikea wall oven (MUMSIG) in an existing space currently occupied by a ge oven. i can find the dimensions of the oven at the ikea website, but am unable to find the recommended cut out dimensions for
this wall oven. any help appreciated.

The Ikea appliances are made by Whirlpool. When I wanted details on the installation of the telescoping hood I looked at the Whirlpool site and found one that matches the Ikea specifications, then downloaded the installation instructions. The Whirlpool installation instructions for all their single and double built-in ovens are in the same installation brochure so that may help: Whirlpool Oven Installation

That said, every instruction manual for a kitchen appliance I have seen recommends having the appliance on hand before making any cuts. In your case, I am sure you want to see if the oven will fit in your existing hole, so that is a different matter.

The width of the oven is 28.5" and the cutout height is 27.5" (oven itself is 29" high).

That is almost identical to the Whirlpool dimensions as given in their installation manual:
A. 28³⁄₈" (72.1 cm) max. recessed width
B. 29" (73.7 cm) max. overall height
C. 29³⁄₄" (75.6 cm) overall width
D. 23" (58.4 cm) max. recessed depth
E. 27¹⁄₂" (69.9 cm) recessed height
