We bought one of these,
IKEA | home | Bathroom | Bathroom furniture | Bathroom furniture | BJÖRKEN Mirror cabinet
to use in the bathroom. Nice solid wood except back. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it assembles almost exactly like the Akurum kitchen cabs, right down to the angled hanging bracket that mounts on the sides for attaching thru holes in the back to the wall. Only thing missing is the lip and we could use our extra kitchen rail & hanging doohickies. Since we don't have studs available for both holes, I'm thinking of adapting to the rails anyway! I think the easiest thing would be to mount two rails, one for top and one near bottom, so that the cabinet would sit right against the wall. Any reason not to do it? I figure I would need to trim in quarter round anyway....
(All you coordinated decorators will shudder, but now our bath has Stat white, (matches corrian shower surround, tub, and other fixtures), built in "cherry" cabinets, and this birch thing. We've had the hardest time figuring out a medicine cabinet and now we're so eager to get something up there we've just given up on matching anything! Oh well... maybe someday I'll strip it and stain cherry to match vanity.)
Thanks for your input, NB
