Lets see if I can explain this without confusing you all .

We installed our OTR microwave last night and let me say, it was no easy task . But we did eventually get it right . We ended up having a 4 inch space on each side of the microwave and cabinets. We are thinking on using some toe kick cut to size but I wanted to get opinions from you all on what you think would work best. We want the Microwave to blend in with the cabinetry.

I will upload a picture tonight if that would help.

I think using toekick as a filler sounds like a great idea. The only thing I would mention is that you will want to make sure that when you install the filler that you take into account how the microwave door opens and ensure that the filler strip doesn't interfere.

To brace the toekick material on the microwave side, you could use some small "L" brackets and adhesive (like Liquid Nails).
