Question Question about Akurum base cabinets

I noticed on the Akurum base cabinets that there are 2 bigger size holes on the left and riht sides. THe holes are in the center about 2-3 inches apart. Are these for joining cabinets?

Thanks

Re: Question about Akurum base cabinets

I can't really answer your question about the larger holes but joining the cabinets is usually done through the holes also used for shelves/hinges/drawerglides. Some people mark the holes with blue painter's tape so it's easy to remember which are used for hinges, glides, etc. and you can choose from remaining holes for joining.

Re: Question about Akurum base cabinets

Actually the side panel is symmetry, that's why there is 2 hole there. I use that for joining 2 cabinet.

Another way of using this hole is, ( Which i going to do) I use a 40cm cabinet as my dress table. I will bought a 40cm board and place the board like the base. Then add a glass on top. I have a dressing table. This is for people who want to have a durable cabinet and drawer without touching the cutting tools

I've been blogged!
Re: Question about Akurum base cabinets

As Sandra pointed out, the two sides are symmetrical, and those holes you're describing are "left over" because there's no cross member running between them; if you have a deep fridge cabinet, you'll see how they do get used in that cabinet.

You can use those holes to attach the cabinets to each other, but because of their depth, there's not a lot of "meat" left in the hole - you'd be better of using the other, smaller holes, or drilling your own.
