Questions about Stolman tv mount

I have a few questions about the Stolman system found on this page. How do these mount to the floor/cieling? Do I need to screw them into the floor/cieling, will there be any damage or noticable marks after I remove the system (if I choose to move/replace it)? Is the system really sturdy enough to hold my components and tv? When I saw it at the store the poles seemed to shake a bit, is that normal or just a bad mounting job? Oh, and will this support a 50" plasma? If not, is there any other way to reliably mount a plasma of that size on these poles? Last thing: are the cables are able to run through the poles to be hidden?

Thanks for the help!!!

Re: Questions about Stolman tv mount

The uprights (poles) attach to the ceiling with 3 screws each...they simply rest on the floor; there is a screw-jack style fitting in the base which picks up the slack as the last step of installation. If you are going to set this up near a wall, an alternative to screwing the tops to the ceiling is to attach the poles to the wall using the wall brackets (included with each pole); the bracket screws into the wall. If using the wall mount method I would be very careful to make sure you use a solid attachment method!

The system should hold a 50" plasma (most are around 100lbs)...the shelves for the Stolmen are rated at 55lbs each, and wardrobe systems are shown with multiple shelves. I use this system as a shelf unit in an alcove/bay window in my living room and it is quite solid.

You do realize that the your 50" TV is wider than the mounting panel, right? This also should not be a problem since you will need a wall mount bracket for the TV which will set if far enought "out" from the panel surface so that the sides of the TV clear the uprights.

If you want to run cables, you could drill a 1/2" hole in the pole I suppose...personally I would encase all of the cables in some corrugated wire wrap (sold in Home Dopey) and deal with it externally. Neat yet accessible.

Good luck!

Re: Questions about Stolman tv mount

Hi all,

anyone have any ideas on how to get the tv panel above and the matching media storage unit matched to the black-brown color of the stolem range? Ideally i would need to find the vinyl (or whatever covering they use) used to cover their other Stolem items in that Black Brown colour?

Any ideas?

thanks!
