Lisa, that looks sweet, I think I will try to do something similar. I Already have 2 large IMPERATIV panels, but I will use one behind the stove and return the other one. My main problem is going to be the cutouts for the outlets. I have to figure out a way to improvise. Great job on the remodel.
After I covered the metal surface with some blue tape, I used a rotary tool with a cut off disc to first cut the metal only, as it will heat up and burn the fiberboard and stain the metal if you are not careful. After cutting the metal, I used a knife to cut the remaining fiberboard and finished up the edges with a metal file.
I used the same procedure to cut off about 3" from one of the panels in order to make them fit the space.
The cutting discs also don't last very long, I had touse a lot of them.
That extension cord connected to the outleton the photoruns behind the panel and the wall cabinets to the over the range microwave.
oooooo I'm so glad I stumbled upon this blog - I have to use the 24" wide Imperative panels, cut into 2 12" panels, because I forgot to tell the electrician to put the outlets at 15" (I told him 14" becaue I was SURE I was going to do a 12" atinless backsplash - then found out that I COULD use Imperativ but they're 15").
My IKEAN told me they COULD be cut - with a carbide blade. We were thinking table saw with a carbide blade in it - but now I'm thinking there's a better way.
