Re: Stainless Perfekt cover panel for backsplash?
The 88in RUBRIK panel is indeed "real" stainless, and worked for us quite nicely as a backsplash. You can cut longer straight cuts with a new, good fine tooth carbide tipped circular saw blade (turn the panel over to cut from the back so that the edge does not flair up). But use a table saw with a similar blade for better results (stainless side up).
Spray the panel 1st with a line of WD40 along the cut path to help reduce the heat of the cut. And cut slow to reduce the possibility of burning the stainless. Of course wear protective eye wear (safety goggles), gloves, long sleeve jacket & even face protection - as little pieces of metal can sting if they hit your face.
I've also had good luck with cutting stainless door panels. The "stainless" toekicks are not real stainless (some kind of thin foil), and they cut even easier.
For cutting holes for outlet or switch boxes, drill the corners, then use a fine tooth saber saw. Cut from the back side to help reduce scratches to the stainless surface, or double tape the surface of the stainless with blue painters tape & press down only lightly with the saw during the cutting for best results. Clean up tape residue with WD40 & a soft rag. Practice 1st on a scrap if possible.
