Subway Tile

I'm looking for a place either online or a store ( I live in Iowa) where I can buy beige, or a brown tone of subway tile. We have 36 sq ft to tile so I'm looking to do something relatively inexpensive.

Re: Subway Tile

Hi, fellow Iowan!

Online, the best price I found for glass subway tile was here:

Susan Jablon Mosaics - Designer Glass Tile for Kitchen, Bathroom, Wall, Floor, Pool & Patio - Subway & Stainless Steel Tiles

Around $14 sq/ft. if I remember right.

Now, if you're willing to go with ceramic, vs. glass, the retail stores sell it for $3 - $4 sq./ft in Des Moines. I wanted glass, so I purchased glass mosaic, 1x1s from cooltiles.com. About $5ish a sq./ft if I remember right. Although price varies a lot depending on color, and this was not subway tile. Good luck!

Re: Subway Tile

You could probably get glazed ceramic tile for more like $3/sf maybe more because subway tile is very popular. I'd look up a tile showroom locally and if they don't have what you're looking for ask them who does. The places that will have them will be oriented to design professionals, not consumers. But you should still be able to buy there.

Good luck.

Someone here just turned me on to this site: FastFloors.com - Hardwood Flooring, Laminate Floors, Wood Floors, Ceramic Tile, Bamboo Their prices are great if you can wade through the thousands of options.... I too am looking for a 3x6 brown or tan subway tile at a bargain price, so let me know if you find anything great!

Hi...I'm ridiculously addicted to glass subway tile. I found the cheapest options at Building Materials - Flooring, Roofing, Siding, Decking, Kitchen, Bath & More for $7.94 sq ft. It's the Helio collection and it comes in some attactive options. The catch (there's always a catch) is that you have to order $1,000 worth. I need a lot for my kitchen (75 sq ft = $600). If there's anyone who needs approximately 55 sq ft (or $400 worth), we can place the order together. We wouldn't have to order the same colors....just need to order enough to meet the $1000 threshold.

I have to check with Build Direct to understand shipping options. But it could be a good solution to get a great deal on tile.

Re: Subway Tile

Are you still looking for someone who needs Helio tile? I need about $350 worth so I would be willing to go for the $400 - I'm looking for their "Earth" color.

Re: Subway Tile

Hi Rickk!

I'm definitely interested. As a matter of fact, I'm placing the order for all my flooring today. I'm contacting the Build Direct people now to see how they would handle split shipping. What city and state are you in?

Re: Subway Tile

Hi Rickk,

I contacted Build Direct and they are not able to do split shipping. They will ship lower than the $1,000 minimum but they charge a fee of $100 for this. I think this still makes it more affordable than the Susan Jablon Mosaics.

For example: the Build Direct tile is $7.94/sq ft. I ended up ordering 54 sq ft = $428.76 + $100 fee = $528.76 / 54 sq ft = $9.79 sq ft. Susan Jablon for the same tile is $13 sq ft.

Check it out!

Good Luck!

Re: Subway Tile

Thanks, I will do that. The price quote I got locally was outrageous, so I will be glad to pay the $100 too. Best wishes on your project!
