Hi - I posted this is the design thread, but thought it would be more appropriate here:

Now that our kitchen and glass tile job has been completed my wife and I wanted to re-visist this question. My wife INSISTS that the glass tile would look great adjacent to the coffee pot on the left hand side of the pantry (see photo below). I agree, but think that we would also need to tile that smallish cove to the right of the pantry as well (Side walls). My worry is that is would close in that small cove area?

Seraching through photos online I've seen the tile backsplash extended to the sidesplash areas all the time, but can't find an example like ours.

I've still got some glass tile left over so it would not cost me anything. Plus it would give the kitchen some more color. What do you all think?

Hrm, I think you don't have to tile to the right if you do the left necessarily, but this has to do with the perspective of the photo.

From where the photo is taken, it looks like when one approaches the kitchen, that wall to the left is right in front of you, perpendicular to your approach--so the bare wall really stands out. Whereas the space to the right, in the alcove-y area, is more parallel to your approach, and so doesn't stand out very much.

But again, that is what it looks like to me from the photo angle. Can you comment on that?

Yeah, your exactly right. The area near the coffee pot to the left of the pantry does stand out as one enters the kitchen. The cove to the right is more hidden.

So yeah, I think you could just "sidesplash" the area to the left, and not do the right. That's my personal opinion!
