Kitchen Backsplash to Cover Gaps along Wall

Hello, my first post on the site here. I have an Ikea kitchen with cabinets, and countertop. Problem is, when we purchased the house, the seller didn't finish the small details.

The countertop had a jagged cut along the edges closes to the walls. I'm thinking about adding some Ikea backsplash to it, but I didn't want to just add the backsplash and not address the massive gaps we have in spaces.

What can I do to seal up those gaps before I add my backsplash? Or will adding the backsplash cover up those gaps? Thanks.

Hard to say, what's your definition of massive? If the gaps are less than the width of the backsplash you should be OK.

Hey mrprez,

Thanks for your response. Well they're not so massive, but just ugly to view. They jagged, and rugged, so they're probably at the biggest a couple of 8ths.

We had some gaps as well due to crooked walls. The tiled backsplash covered most of that and then we caulked the difference. Came out looking OK.
What do you have for countertops?

Hi

You could try using the IKEA edging strip which will cover at least 2cm of gaps.

I believe, I have the Numerar countertops. They were installed before we moved in.

The wall edging looks like a shoe molding application.

Thanks for the responses
