So we've picked Stat white cabinets, butcher block countertop, beige ceramic tile for the floor and now we need some color in our kitchen!! We want to do a colorful backsplash but we are stumped. We've checked out Lowes and HD but their tile seems pretty bland. We did pick up a box of slate 4x4 tile but when we got home and looked at it next to the Stat cabinets in the laundry we didn't love it. Anyone have any recommendations? We are located in Northern VA so if anyone knows of a good tile store or place to get ideas that would be helpful also. Thanks guys!!!

How do you feel about a pop of color? I think a mottled beige and gold field tile with a double strip of red, green, blue or even yellow glass tile through it would be fabulous, especially with your color scheme. It would give you a nice accent color to use around the kitchen as well.

It's not the same color scheme as Eva suggests, but here's what I did to give a pop of color using cheap field tile plus some glass tile as an accent color (to match my red range):




You can find great glass tile at Glass Mosaic Tile, Mosaic Blends and Gradients, Custom Glass Tile Design from Hakatai, where I bought mine, Susan Jablon Mosaics - Designer Glass Tile for Kitchen, Bathroom, Wall, Floor, Pool & Patio - Subway & Stainless Steel Tiles. The latter has beautiful subway tiles made in a beach glass color assortment.
