I visited Karen's kitchen today - it is NOT too dark. It is rich feeling and very nice. It is going to be a fantastic place to work in. Oh, and the work they have done in the rest of the house is impressive, too. The mudroom is full of Adel MB and it looks great, too. I can't wait to see the stairs finished - the materials look great.
I still vote for the first choice in tile because I think the colors will go better - and it is a more exciting tile.
I think it's unanimous! #1 it is. It's gorgeous. And yes, I love copper. So does Kelly, actually. Maybe the same IKEAFAN gene makes for a COPPERFAN as well?
OK.... so what's the train ID ??? I know its' Susan aka GoD. train ???

Anne,
with all due respect I don't know if you meant your tone to come off a bit confrontational, but it did.
I really do hope it was just the excitement of getting to meet a fellow fan and visit an almost finished kitchen.

Oh it was absolutely not meant to be confrontational. Just Karen commented in her original post that ' I was told that the kitchen is "dark," ' and I totally disagree with whoever told her that. Her kitchen is full of light and very rich in color and texture.
The copper tile backsplash will add even more color and texture and will make the entire space sparkle.
ok, glad to hear it... i didn't remember her first post stating that, just saw my most recent comment talking about "brightening" which wasn't to imply darkness... virtual tone is just so easy to misunderstand sometimes!
and karen, when do i get to see a picture of my contribution

Dulci,
And I didn't see that your comment was just above mine. No wonder mine came across as confrontational!
If your contribution is the undersink drawer, it is in progress - I saw it with the bits nearly ready to assemble.
i actually sent her the partition... trying to avoid using ikeaDirect due to their outlandish shipping cost even more from California lesson learned. i'm thinking i was still prolly quicker than ikea direct even with my tardiness

It's so frustrating seeing all the great ideas here and knowing that if we were closer we could do more "on the fly" modifications! Instead we get to plan and plan and plan...
Karen "passed it on" by getting me a sample door. I'll have to make sure to do the same!
And here we'll forever be 5 hours from the nearest Ikea - Tallahassee is just too small and isolated a market for that kind of store. Of course, that may not hold true - we're getting our first Costco soon.
