We're getting a COSTCO?? Holy Toledo, Batman, we've hit the BIG time! How come I never heard of that?? Remember the game, "Six Degrees of Separation to Kevin Bacon"? Well, in Tallahassee, as someone recently pointed out, there are only TWO degrees.
Dulci, your drawer divider is in the island (we could not have gotten our countertops without it) and so I give you a little blessing of thanks EVERY DAY!
But I feel like a TOTAL idiot: I cannot find the source for that first tile I posted -- it sounded like you might have seen it before somewhere?? My cabinet guy walked into poison ivy & got so ill that he was in bed for a week, so the kitchen has been similarly stalled
Anne, you keep telling yourself that Orlando is only FOUR hours and there is a cruise ship pier 30 minutes on from that! Breathe with me . . . in . . . . out. We are on the FRONTIER, honey!
i saw it in one of the tile show rooms at the mart in san francisco. I want to say i was in Ann Sacks, but i don't know cause there are SOOOO many stores in there

Karen,
The Costco is going into the Fallschase commercial area - on US 90 where they just clearcut 70 acres of trees. Too bad Costco did not realize what a mistake associating themselves with Fallchase could be to their business, but I still hope they make it. (For those not in Tallahassee, Fallschase is one of these political hot potato deals that has dragged on for 30 years and has a lot of baggage no matter what side of the issue you are on.)

Right now is not a good time to talk to me about how close Orlando is - we just drove there and back this weekend for a memorial service for my brother-in-law. He died Thursday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer and we all miss him tremendously already. The memorial service was very well done and a huge number of people whose lives he affected showed up to express their grief and their love for him.
My legs do not like sitting for that many hours in two days - I am waiting for the pain killers to kick in so I can get to sleep.
The good news is that they started work on the house Thursday and if the weather holds, we should have a slab in a couple of weeks.
I think Costco falls into the category of "If you build it they will come" I haven't seen one yet that wasn't a great investment... they are way past their learning curve

Dulci,
Actually one of the political groups in town had a postcard campaign asking Costco to open a store in Tallahassee. The really awkward part is the same group that supports that wanted Costco also is very against the Fallschase development (partly because of a very long history of questionable government dealings and irresponsible environmental choices). So Costco will arrive in town with a big conflict with the very people that asked them to come here.
But in reality that is a very small segment of the population, so Costco will likely survivea and prosper.
Ffrom what I have heard about Costco, they are a very good company with great products - so I am looking forward to going there and looking at what they have. I've heard they have good home products and it seems they will be opening just about the time our house will be close to finished, so maybe I can get some good deals on things I will need!
not only are they good for the consumer, they are great for their employees. the founder of costco still takes a regular salary, and i mean a normal human salary, not a 100Million CEO inflated salary. he's a really good guy with a great work ethic and treats his workers fairly. i love costco in a way that i reserve for very few companies (ikea is one )
I agree that Costco is a good company. Wall Street gives them a hard time because they pay their employees well and give them good benefits!Whoa!!
Every Costco employee I know is extremely happy, works very hard, and is proud of the job they do. Plus they make good money and have a career path upwards if they choose.
Compare that with Walmart. Bad benefits, unpaid overtime (look up the class action lawsuits), etc. Plus, when was the last time you met a helpful, or even moderately busy Walmart employee?
I may even order today -- which means all the decisions are DONE. Now what will I do with my time?? Oh, yeah. Defend my PhD Dissertation & have surgery
