I hope this is the right section of the boards for this...(If it isn't feel free to move it to where it belongs, mods!)
I got a lot of help on my Ikea kitchen here a few years ago, so feel like I owe to everyone here to post my new Ikea projects! I love their kitchen cabinets and use them in any home project I can. So that brings me to our new bathroom! We used a nexus Black/Brown kitchen cabinet for the vanity. It is a 30" cabinet with a couple inches taken off the back so that it would fit in the room.
First a before shot:
Ugh. It was like that for 2 1/2 years before we finally got our act together and hired someone to redo things. Here are some after shots:
What we used: sink: IKEA (the square drop-in sink that doesn't appear to be on the website?!) faucet: La Toscana Elba, 8" widespread countertop: Formica in color Flint Crystall floor: slate tile toilet: Toto Aquia II dual flush wall cabinets: IKEA Vattern cabinet with Nygrund doors. Lined with wrapping paper from Snow & Graham. light: Artemide Talo Mini in white mirror: IKEA wall color: Ice Violet from valspar's Laura Ashley collection towel bars, toilet paper holder: IKEA Grundtal
(We didn't change the bathtub or shower tiles in the interest of saving money.)
All y'all hardcore Ikea cabinet masters will probably notice that the cover panel on the right side of the vanity was cut incorrectly. I neglected to tell the guy who did the work about how the coverpanel is supposed to line up with the front of the door, rather than the front of the cabinet box, so he cut it too short and a bit of the white cabinet box shows through. (It needed a few inches cut off the back due to the cabinet box being cut down too.) It doesn't actually bug me too much right now, but it would be easy enough to redo if it did. I'm kinda lazy though, and we won't be living here forever, so I have a feeling it will stay.
Very nice emily! I love all the chill in it...very modern and sleek. I'd accessorize with rock crystal in blues and whites and other things that look like ice and snow, with one nice healthy green plant and maybe an orange shower curtain or mat for contrast.
It's beautiful! and dontcha just love the aquia? we have 2 of them and i can't wait to change out the 3rd!
The difference is night and day, you must be soooo happy
Yes, the Aquia is fabulous! I find myself avoiding our powder room (with old toilet) even when it is closer, just so I can use the new toilet! I'm going to drive my husband crazy - as soon as we finished the first bathroom, I started scheming about how to pay for tiling & new toilet in the other one.
I'm kinda late to the party on this one, the bathroom looks fabulous.
I also have Nygrund doors and need to line them with something. Could you share how you attached the wrapping paper to the door without it looking horrible? Also what hinges did you use to mount them horizontally?
The wall cabinets are from the bathroom line (now discontinued) and they are made to open that way, so the hinges came with them.
Attaching the wrapping paper - I cut the paper to size, then used little squares of foam double sided tape. I put it at equal intervals around the frame, then carefully stuck the paper to it.
I love the Artemide light and plan on buying it again for any/all future bathroom projects. I'm not a makeup wearer, so I can't address that, but the light is very even and natural looking.
I saw it on Apartment Therapy too - there is a real lack of affordable modern bathroom lighting, isn't there? I love this one, though.
