Shopping for IKEA bathrooms in the DC area

Hello: I am shopping for 2 bathrooms to be remodeled. I like the look of IKEA bathrooms, but have been frustrated in shopping at the College Park store. I have been twice and spent extensive time looking at the sinks and cabinets, but neither time have I been able to find a live human to assist me who knows about the sinks and cabinets. Second, the actual measurements of sinks I measured in person are different than what is posted on the website, sometimes by up to an inch. This concerns me because, third, not all the sinks I want to consider are available for viewing on the showroom floor. Therefore, not only can I not see what they look like, I cannot measure them. Fourth, there is no running water. This seems like it would be particularly helpful with the shallow sinks like Norrviken to see how the water flows and splashes.

I am wondering if anyone knows if I might find a better shopping experience by trekking to the Woodbridge , VA store, a bit farther away (i doubt they have running water, but maybe some more assistance).

I am looking at 31" sinks in Norrviken, Odensvik and Vitviken. If anyone has any experience or opinion on them, I would love to know.

Thank you so much if you can provide any insight or guidance.

Re: Shopping for IKEA bathrooms in the DC area

swdc,

Sorry for your experience. We live in Adams Morgan and use the College Park store pretty frequently. We just picked up our bathroom vanity and other things there a few weeks ago. There were no associates around in the kitchen dept., so we had to find help at the information booth in the warehouse. I lived in VA previously, so I have some experience with the Woodbridge store, but they are largely the same as far as service goes ( IMO ). I don't think you'll find much difference in the displays.

Be assured though, if you are not happy with the measurements, you can take back the vanity. It's not the most convenient (naturally), but it can be un-done. We have returned multiple kitchen cabinets (for bad measurements) and even, more recently, the bathroom mirror.

Thanks for the response! that is very helpful. I understand Ikea's limitations but it is pretty appalling that they are selling products that you cannot see in the store and cannot get specs for prior to purchasing. But, you make a good point that I can return them if there is a problem.

That is a bit scary about the kitchen cabinets, too. Good to know because I am going to end up redoing my kitchen, too, which I hadn't originally planned.

Thanks!
