pax corner unit - quick question

Hi again,

Still figuring out the configuration of Pax cabinets for our small walk-in closet. Does anyone know if it's okay to use a corner unit and not add another cabinet to one of its sides. We have an L-shaped space for our closet cabinets. One leg of the "L" is 75" and the other is 54". We plan to use a 39 1/4" cab and a 29 1/2" cab on the longer side of the "L" and wanted to just use a corner unit on the shorter side of the "L" (since there wouldn't be room for a corner unit plus another cabinet). Any problems with this? The catalog says you need 3 7/8" behind the corner unit, so it seems as if it won't be attached to the wall and thus must just be attached to the walls of the adjoining cabinets. If there is only one adjoining cabinet, how much of a problem is this?

If you understand my question and have any thoughts about it, I'd love to hear.

Thanks!

Re: pax corner unit - quick question

The Pax corner cabinet is NOT symmetrical - the add-on "L" section is not as deep as the rest of the cabinet. I don't remember the exact dimensions, but the add-on side is about 4" shallower than the other side.

The way the system works, you buy a regular 39" cabinet and the add-on unit, then choose which side of the 39" unit you want to add the corner piece to. In your case, you'd place the 39" unit as you would otherwise, then install the add-on unit on the 54" side. Because there's no other cabinet on that side, you don't need the extra space behind it.

If you did have cabinets on both sides, yo'd have to "build out" the add-on side by that 4" dimension.
