Hey guys

Hope all is well, I am thinking of getting a 30 gallon tank for my house, and I was thinking of putting it on top of my 4 drawer MALM dresser that I got from IKEA.

Just wondering if the thing is strong enough to hold the 30 gallon (~120kg) tank....does anyone know the weight load for the dresser/is it safe?

120 kg. is over 260 pounds. I am sure a properly assembled dresser could hold that much weight for a short period of time - for instance, if you needed a "step ladder" to hang a blind, etc. - but you're talking serious load over continuous time.

Can it be done? Probably, but I would suspect over time you'd get deflection of the top, as well as some serious tension in the stringers and side panels.

Should it be done? No.
