I am on stage three of my walk in closet (totally Ikea, of course) and it seems that the Pax Nexus Oak drawers have been discontinued in the 50cm wide by 35 cm deep size (19-5/8" wide by 13-3/4" deep). Of course, this is one of the last things I need to finish my closet. I was going to use a couple of the new short base/wall cabinetsto make a vanity/dressing table with the last bit of space I have. Are these Pax Nexus Oak drawers still available in stores?
My understanding is that the drawer fronts are sold separately from the drawer box. It looks to me like the shallower draw box is still available. Whether the Nexus oak frontis out, I don't know. I'll try to look next time I'm in Ikea.
That would be great if you could check it out. I don't live anywhere near an Ikea. Ikea still has the Nexus Oak front on-linewith the deeper drawer but no longer has the shallower drawer on the website. That usually is not good news............usually that means it is only available in stores or has been discontinued. I can't wait to be totally finished so I can post my Pax pictures on the forum.
I'm in the same predicament. I'm planning on using a30" X 24"X 24" over therefrig kitchen cabinet for the vessel sinkand a Pax19 5/8"x14 5/8"x79 1/8" as a storage towerfor my guest bathroom. I wanted drawers in the Paxfor the normal bathroom small items.
I'm heading from Bakersfield into LA on Thursday and would drive to Burbank, Carson, or Costa Mesa if need be. I hope I find some. If I do Colleen, would you like me to get you some too? How many do you need?
If I don't find any I guess I wll switch to the 23 5/8" deep tower, although it would crowd the room more than I would like.
The Nexus oak is shown in the current Pax catalogue, so it has not been discontinued. I'm going with the Nexus Birch as it is in both the Pax line and the kitchen line.
Shouva, we just installed some Komplement drawers. I don't remember seeing the shallow drawers anywhere in the display. But...since they are wood it would be fairly simple to cut them down to a shallower depth. It would just be the two side pieces and the bottom.
Oh yeah. that should work if I don't find any of the others. I could also have my boss make up the drawer boxes but that would cost me a fortune. Sad that I cannot afford what I design for others, even with an employee discount. I'm glad that I can afford Ikea though.
Thanks Eva, for the hint.
What about shorter runners? I'll have to find them in one of my catalogues.
I'm glad this thread popped back up, because I meant to reply. I looked all through the Seattle warehouse for the shallow komplement drawers and couldn't find them. Shouva - let us know if you figure out something for the runners - that sounds way tougher than cutting down the drawer.
I was at Burbank Thursday night hoping to find some remaining 350mm drawers. No luck, but the Ikean told me that her manager told her they will be coming back. He does not know when though. Seems the grey color has been discontinued and all the accessories are being made in the new color called "chanpagne". The 350mm drawers will be in this new color.
I hope she and her manager are correct on this. I will just wait on my bathroom redo until the new drawers come in.
IKEAn (and paid for it) here, very sorry to say that in the new KOMPLEMENT range (whereby all the grey is, as you are aware, replaced by thechampagne* colour) the 35cm depth drawer w/o front is discontinued entirely. This affects:
- 100x35
- 50x35 sizes
Whichmeans that it will be impossible to use the 'external drawers' with 35 deep frames. Now since the 35 deep drawers were never particularly popular, it is the case in many stores that there are still old grey drawers in that size available (in my home store in Sydney Australia we still have significant stock of 100x35) so you may still have a chance at getting them. But I can say with assurance that they will not be produced in the champagne colour (unless IKEA of Sweden changes their mind yet again, which is frequently the case).
Sorry for the bad news.
* if my champagne were that colour, I certainly wouldn't drink it
