moved back into the family home at 26 (in law school and no longer want to pay rent since school is close to home) but my bedroom hasn't been redone since middle school lol

planning a minor overhaul. my criteria are:

1. hidden storage space, i like a minimal, sleek, clean look
2. able to see TV from bed, recliner, desk area
3. overhead task lighting in those 3 areas
4. i'm obsessed with "floating" furniture

the room is 13'x13', so i was planning on using four 30" and one 36" over-the-fridge cabinets along the back wall, with under-cab lighting shining down on the bed, recliner, desk areas

for the desk, i was thinking another 36" fridge cab and a pair of Numerar countertops cut to fit

i alread have the bed (a double), the recliner (which i absolutely love) and the task chair.

the two pics show the 2 different color schemes i was thinking of (#1 cream walls, dark woods, burgundy bed treatment... #2 blue walls, combination of light woods/white)

everyone on this site is so creative, i figured i would solicit some opinions on my proposed plan. comments welcome

PS - first post here, but i've read the entire Modifications and Ikea Hack forums front to back

PPS - TV is mounted to the wall and i definitely don't want to move it, it was a major pain to get it up with all the wiring in-wall

I think it looks really good, I like the floating cabinet.
Personally I prefer the first colour scheme, but I'm not very fond of blue and dark coloured walls, so I might be biased

Is there a way to center the bed...possibly where the TV is and maybe put the recliner on the wall the current bed slides against. IMHO I do not like beds up against the wall unless they are daybed style. I also don't like the way the chair is snugged up to the bed. I also have space limitations. But it really works best to place your bed and maybe chair and then build components around them. You might also build the desk around the bed so you can utilize for desk and nightstand with lighting. Great storage ideas though.
