I'm not a big fan of the Aneboda bed, but I've never seen this happen, so I can only speculate as to why it is happening.
There are a couple of ways to fix this, but the best way would be to buy a set of 4 bolts, nuts and washers, and use them to bolt the plate to the headboard. You could probably use 3/16 x 1 1/2" bolts, with flat washers on one side and split washers on the other, plus the nuts to fit the bolts.
While you're doing this for the headboard, you might want to consider making the same fix pre-emptively on the footboard. It's not an attractive solution, but it may save you from the same "fate" on the other end of the bed.
